It's weaning time at Preston Park, three calves to wean this year. They are Rawlings Honeycomb, Preston Park Hoiti Toiti and a steer. Weaning is a stressful time for both cow and calf and there are several different methods that can be used. In the past I have used a weaning nose ring that can be fitted to the calf's nose. That was okay when weaning one calf at time. So I decided to go cold turkey and separate them cold from their mothers on the ninth of May. They were not happy campers for the first two days but they have settled down now. See below for a few pictures of the calves in the loose box, they also have access to the yard.
